There are two semesters in Don Bosco Cristo Rey’s academic year. The final grade earned for a course is the average of semester 1 and 2. Semester grades are weighted using this formula: Q1 (40%) + Q2 (40%) + Semester Exam (20%). The following scale is used to determine letter grades and GPA:
|F||64 and below||0.0|
Rank and GPA
The GPA noted on the transcript is a weighted average; Honors courses will have an additional point added to the quality points available for each grade in the course; only earned grades of A, B, and C merit additional quality points. Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School does not rank its students.
There are three opportunities for students to be recognized each quarter for their academic achievement.
Students who earn no grade lower than an A- and a GPA of 4.0 or above
Students who earn no grade lower than B- and a GPA of 3.5 or above
Student who earn no grade lower than C and a GPA of 3.0 or above
Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School uses PlusPortals, which is an online tool to help students and parents keep track of students’ academic work and progress.
PlusPortals accounts are distributed at the beginning of the school year; students and parents should check PlusPortals on a weekly basis for any updates.
