Alumni Persistence Counselor
Job Summary
The Alumni Persistence Associate identifies and removes persistence barriers for Don Bosco Cristo Rey (DBCR) alumni already enrolled, attempting to enroll, or that have stopped out of college. The Alumni Persistence Counselor will work with alumni and their families to explore and achieve first-time enrollment and re-enrollment in a two or four-year college and increase student independence in managing their post-secondary plans. Additionally, s/he will also be responsible for managing and recording data, identifying trends, and collaborating with the Alumni Persistence Manager and College Success Team to present findings that impact college persistence and matriculation to key stakeholders, as well as assist with planning alumni-focused events and networking opportunities that drive completion towards a post-secondary program and career.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
To improve the overall 4-year college persistence rate for DBCR by enrolling new college students, re-enrolling continuing alumni, and enrolling alumni that have never attended or stopped out of college, the Alumni Persistence Counselor will:
- Ensure that 100% of DBCR alumni who matriculate to college graduate within 5-6 years
- Manage caseload of assigned college students to provide counseling focused on major enrollment, course selection, academic workload balance, post-secondary Satisfactory Academic Progress, financial aid, and resource assistance with the goal of college completion and career readiness
- Build and continue relationships with campus support offices including financial aid, student support services, student counseling, and career services where our alumni enroll and help students identify and use necessary support offices
- Provide counseling for students not making Satisfactory Academic Progress to improve their academic standing through seminars or one-on-one post-secondary planning sessions
- Provide alumni with consistent information on financial, career, and personal resources focused on college persistence and completion
- Assist with the promotion, processing, and awarding of internal and external scholarship opportunities such as the DBCR Alumni Persistence Emergency Fund for current and prospective college enrolled alumni
- Provide outreach and support to alumni not enrolled in college and create college matriculation plans for enrollment
- Co-lead Alumni Persistence Parent University workshops to provide resources and counseling to to parents and caretakers to prevent barriers of college completion for parents of current and prospective college enrolled alumni through sophomore year
- Track alumni progress and demographic data using Gradforce (formerly Salesforce) and identify trends among college-aged alumni to improve Alumni Persistence Team best counseling practices and reporting
- Aid students in planning for transition to work or graduate school through Alumni Persistence Next Steps Workshops
- Provide opportunities for alumni to mentor or network with high school students to encourage a college-going and completion culture
- Research/assist alumni with placement in summer opportunities, programs, and internships
- Prepare caseload of graduating high school seniors with college transition in the Spring via weekly instruction through DBCR’s College Prep course focused on financial aid and college readiness
- Lead in assisting with the registration of NCAA Student Eligibility and college counseling for current college-bound student athletes
- Assist in planning for Alumni focused events such as Annual Fall Alumni Panel, Biennial College Graduation Celebration, and Annual College Summer Send-Off Celebration
- Provide Alumni Persistence Team with feedback regarding academic rigor, school culture, and counseling services of the various colleges where DBCR alumni are enrolled

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree Required: Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Secondary or Post-Secondary Education, Professional School Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Integrative Studies, Higher Education and Student Affairs, Higher Education Leadership or a related subject preferred but not required
- 2+ years of experience working with first-generation, underserved populations
- 2+ years working in high school alumni focused and/or undergraduate setting
- At least one year experience in Salesforce/Gradforce and/or National Clearinghouse is preferred
- Up to 35% travel is required for this job with most visitations being to local college visits to alumni. Must have access to insured and reliable transportation

Driver
Job Summary
The Driver ensures 2-15 students are safely driven to their worksites or other school/work commitments. Drivers may be called upon to drive a minibus or a van. Routes may also include shuttle routes to and from Metro stations and/or athletic practices.

- Transport students to and from school and work in a safe and timely manner.
- Supervise students while transporting and transitioning between destinations.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- To work cooperatively with the head athletic coach to operate a well-structured program.
- To work cooperatively with the athletic department and athletic director.
- To attend all staff meetings prescribed by the head coach and athletic director during the season.
- To carry out specific duties designated by the head athletic coach and athletic director.
- To recommend equipment and supplies needed for the implementation of a sports program.
- To recommend disciplinary actions regarding players violating team rules and procedures.
- To foster among the athletes a desire to win, an attitude of good sportsmanship, personal pride, and pride in their school and community.
- To perform other duties related to the position of assistant athletic coach as requested by the high school principal and/or athletic director.
- Valid Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. driver’s license and driving record and ability to drive a 14-passenger minibus to athletic events. Head Coach and assistant coach are expected to drive the 14-passenger minibus to games and to practice as often as needed.
- Model sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward students, officials, families, and spectators. Coaches are considered ambassadors of the school and must uphold our athletic and school values while at practice, games and anytime you are representing Don Bosco.
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.

Commitment:
- We are looking to develop continuity for our coaching staff. We ask that candidates commit to coaching the team for at least 2 years.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Coaching candidates should be motivated to teach and train student athletes for competition and help develop an appreciation for the sport as it relates to life experiences. Candidates should be pleasant to be around and have the skills to manage the team and build an appropriate relationship with each player and their parents.
Duties:
- Hold tryouts that give each player an opportunity to display their skills. Make cuts for the team if necessary. Discuss the team you would like to select with the Athletic Director. Talk to each player in person that makes or does not make the team.
- Be prepared with a practice schedule prior to practice. Spend time before practice developing a practice plan that focuses on teaching the fundamental skills to play, the rules to play the sport and team strategies. Encourage and provide time for players to put in extra work after practice.
- Be a great communicator. Hold meetings with parents, student athletes and encourage potential athletes to participate in the sport. Handout and collect executed student athlete contracts from every player. Email the team their schedule and team expectations in the beginning of the season. Email the team and parents every Friday with their practice and game schedule for the upcoming week.
- Support academic performance
- Make the games enjoyable for both the novice player to the experienced player

Learning Specialist
Job Summary
The Learning Specialist will support students with a variety of learning differences such as ADHD, SLD, Executive Function, Anxiety, Gifted/LD and other language-based learning differences. They will work with students 1:1 or in small groups to develop skills and strategies to excel in their courses. They are an integral part of the academic team and provide insight on the uniqueness of our students.

Spanish Teacher
Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Principal, the Spanish Teacher will be responsible for the overall coordination of teaching in their subject area including executing well-developed lesson plans, accurate assessment of student’s progress, and participation in school functions. The Spanish Teacher’s responsibility is to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program and foster a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

- Coaching candidate should be aware of how to sanitize the Wrestling mats before and after practice and how to store mats after practice and during the off seasons.
