Job Descriptions

The types of tasks student workers perform can be a mile wide or a mile deep. Some of the most common tasks include:

Office Services

  • Provide mail delivery and copy room support (including use of large-scale copy machines and cutting/binding equipment)
  • Manage and/or back-up front desk reception
  • Maintain calendars for employees and conference rooms
  • Set-up and maintain meeting rooms
  • Manage supplies in inventory
  • Prepare documentation for shipping
  • Stock copy room and print stations
  • Index, bar code and box files for storage

Marketing/Business Development

  • Prepare presentation materials
  • Research leads, background, industry data
  • Assist with client events (name tags, marketing folders)
  • Data entry of business cards from networking opportunities
  • Maintain social media


  • Assist in processing of expense reports
  • Enter purchase orders and invoices into Excel spreadsheet
  • Assist in reconciling invoices and checks

Human Resources

  • Scan, file and/or alphabetize HR information
  • Process interview, new hire, and termination paperwork
  • Input of personal details and PeopleSoft data management
  • Process employee security passes and documentation


  • Track equipment allocation, reallocation and inventory using Excel
  • Install new software on computer equipment
  • Clean and remove viruses from computer hard drives

Whether in a hotel, federal agency, hospital, car dealership, university, nonprofit, or law firm, specific tasks can be completed by a student worker given the right training, clear direction, and ongoing coaching.

At the end of June, our President, Fr. Mike Conway, SDB, will transition to a new position within the Salesian province.
